We’ve been discussing RSO with a lot of our patients lately. There are a ton of patients that have no idea what RSO is or how it can help them. Here’s a basic breakdown of Rick Simpson Oil, how it’s made, its different delivery methods and potential benefits.
What is RSO?
Rick Simpson Oil
Named after the creator, Rick Simpson and dubbed RSO for short. RSO is a full spectrum oil made by extracting all of the compounds from buds, and sugar leaves. A solvent, like food-grade Ethanol is used for this extraction, to strip all of the compounds from the plant material. The oil is then purged, removing the solvent, leaving behind a thick, tar-like oil.
Delivery Methods
Capsule Form: Provides consistent and discrete dosages with minimal to no taste.
Ingesting with Food: Commonly consumed with foods to help mask the taste and sometimes to boost absorption (healthy fats/oil).
Sublingual Administration: Placing RSO under your tongue allows for faster absorption directly into the bloodstream through the mucous membrane.
Suppositories: A lesser-known method but highly effective for treating symptoms associated with gastrointestinal illness, colon, cervical, rectal, and other c*ncers.
Topical Application: Can be applied directly to skin or mixed into a topical salve or lotion for local pain relief.
Why RSO?
RSO is widely known as one of the most medicinal forms of cannabis oil, mainly due to its full-spectrum properties and variety of potential benefits and uses. RSO contains high concentrations of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids from the whole plant. Some symptoms/illnesses that patients consume RSO to help combat are Chronic pain, Inflammation, Crohn’s disease, IBS, Insomnia, Epilepsy, Parkinson’s, Nausea, and symptoms associated with Cncer & cncer treatments.
As always we are not making any medical claims. We are providing information on products and resources to help patients learn more and make more informed choices.
