Understanding Strength
RSO is a potent, concentrated oil made from extracting major and minor cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids from the plant material. A 1ml/1g syringe of RSO contains 1000mg (weight) of oil. This does not mean that the oil itself contains 1000mg of THC. An RSO oil contains a percentage (concentration) of THC. Let’s say the RSO tests at 76% THC, that means that the entire gram of oil contains 760mg of THC. For the average patient, this can mean up to 100 doses of approximately 7.6mgs of THC. A great option for those who need consistent consumption at an affordable rate.
Start Low, Go Slow
RSO can be extremely potent and effective in small doses. It’s recommended to start with a small, low dose and gradually work your way up to a higher dose. A general rule of thumb is to start with a dose the size of a grain of rice (or ½ of a grain).
Where to Start?
A recommended starting dose for RSO is going to be dependent on your tolerance for cannabis and edibles. For those with a low tolerance, start with 5-10mg. For those with some tolerance, start with 10-20mg. For those with higher tolerances, you may be able to start with a dose around 20-30mg. For those who are new to cannabis or have a low tolerance, anything above 10mg may be too much at first.
Onset Times
Onset time refers to the amount of time it takes for your body to process RSO and when you will feel the effects.
Average onset times:
RSO (Consumed As Is): 30-120 minutes
RSO Tincture (Sublingual): 15-60 minutes
RSO Capsules: 45-120 minutes
Duration
For most patients, RSO will have a long duration. Duration is estimated between 4-12 hours, depending on the method of consumption and how that person’s body processes cannabis. For most, this is a cost effective and discrete way to achieve a long-lasting relief.
Dosing Simplified
Capsules that are precisely made, ensure a consistent, predictable dose, which is important for patients.
RSO tinctures are a great way to start. These tinctures are often easier to measure doses and are made in a variety of CBD to THC ratios.
RSO Regimens
Your regimen is going to be based on your desired outcome, or reason for consuming (what symptoms or ailments you are targeting).
Most patients that are consuming RSO for regular symptom management, like pain or inflammation management, will start with 1 to 2 doses per day.
Those who have a higher tolerance or more severe symptoms may benefit from lower doses, more frequently, such as 3-4 times per day to ensure that symptoms are managed consistently. Remember that everyone is different. Trial and error and note taking are key to finding what works best for you and your needs.
